Head Coach Griff Aldrich continues to grow his 2025 recruiting class with the addition of 6’9 forward Isaiah Kalala.
Kalala is a three star recruit out of Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas. Aldrich is looking to add some size at the forward position to replace the departing Michael Christmas.
At 6’9 Kalala actually holds a height advantage over the departing Christmas, however he will have to continue to fill his frame out to play the physical style inside that Longwood typically looks for in their forwards.
Kalala’s jumper is fluid and smooth which should translate well to the next level. He has shown the ability to fight through contact and finish at the rim. As his game grows, his ability to draw points at the line should grow as well, as he has a physical mindset while scoring inside the paint.
On the defensive end of the court, Kalala’s length is a benefit, however he will have to continue to improve on his physicality and fluidity during transition moments. Year over year growth at the high school level is evident however, so we have complete faith that he will develop nicely into a key player on a Lancer team that looks to continue recent success within the Big South Conference.
Welcome to Lancer Nation Isaiah, let’s make another push at the NCAA Tournament.
