The Longwood Lancers women’s basketball team swept all three games of the Shirley Duncan Classic this weekend, ending with a dominant win over McNeese State on Sunday. Their three game win streak improves their record to 8-4 on the season.
Game 1: Longwood 67, South Carolina State 60
In the tournament opener, sophomore guard Amor Harris delivered a career-high 23 points off the bench, shooting 10-for-19 from the field and adding four rebounds in 32 minutes. Senior Mariah Wilson contributed 16 points and matched her career best with seven steals, while graduate student Kiki McIntyre recorded a career-high nine steals alongside five assists. The Lancers’ defense was active, forcing 37 turnovers from South Carolina State.
Game 2: Longwood 53, William & Mary 44

Facing in-state rival William & Mary, the Lancers continued to play their brand of basketball. The Tribe had a strong game, however a 19-4 run in the third quarter put the Lancers ahead. Harris continued to contribute off the bench with 12 points, and Wilson was her usual impactful self adding another ten points and three steals. The Lancers’ defense continued to show up, allowing only 44 points to the Tribe’s offense.
Game 3: Longwood 81, McNeese 54
The tournament finale saw Longwood dominate McNeese offensively. Harris and McIntyre both contributed 16 points, followed closely by Olivia Bowes who added twelve in only ten minutes of action. Sophmore forward Otaifo Esenabhalu was active at the board, grabbing eleven total rebounds to help propel Longwood to a perfect 3-0 tournament record.
Head Coach Erica Lang Montgomery spoke about the teams preparation and resilience throughout the weekend. “For the players, it’s about rest and recovery,” she said after the second game. “For the coaches, it’s a little bit more prep work. We’ll get the opportunity to live scout, see them up close in person, and then come up with our game plan.”
Looking Ahead
The Lancers get a bit of a break after playing three games in three days, although their next game won’t be a walk in the park. The Lancers take a trip down to Gainesville Florida to familiar stomping grounds for Coach Montgomery as her Lancers take on SEC powerhouse Florida on December 15 at 12 p.m. That game will be televised on the SEC Network.
